Home furnishings are being demanded by consumers more in India now. Traditionally, consumers’ focus on furnishing their houses in India was restricted to bedroom and sitting room furniture. However, with increasing aspirations of consumers to give a better look to their homes, they have started spending on other furnishing categories like dining and kitchen.

According to a research report, home furnishing market in India is projected to cross INR 40,000 crore by 2020 due to rising demand for contemporary designs, increasing number of households, growing demand for branded and custom-designed furniture and increasing availability of innovative and affordable home furnishing products. Over the past five years, India has emerged as one of the fastest growing markets for home furnishing products in the Asia-Pacific region.

The rising demand for bath and table linen products, upholstery, and so on, increasing demand for premium quality window coverings such as curtain fabric and blinds, and rising trend of using wallpapers and wall-decals over traditional paints and coatings are some of the major factors driving adoption of home furnishing products in the country. In 2014, the bed linen segment dominated the Indian home furnishing market, followed by the bath linen and curtain fabric segment.
